In November 2018, Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (GDRTA) launched The Flyer, a free, downtown shuttle bus service which runs in a continuous loop that stretches from Monument Avenue by RiverScape MetroPark to Irvin Avenue by the University of Dayton. Shuttles arrive at each stop along the loop every 10 minutes or less, with stops at major employment centers, entertainment and dining destinations, amenities, and hot spots.
This new technology improves the speed of boarding the bus, reduces the demands on operators and allows integration with other payment options, including college passes. NEORide is also looking into the integration of a smartcard system for those passengers without access to a smartphone or bank account.
On November 6, the Transportation Review Advisory Council (TRAC) announced the final list of Major New Construction projects for 2020-2023. Having been temporarily suspended last year, TRAC is back, pushing out $1.1 billion in funding for engineering, design, and new construction projects over the next four years.

The CPass program has been an innovative and effective way of encouraging alternative transportation, reducing parking needs, and increasing COTA’s ridership.

Staff at GOPC are afraid of conventional things, like clowns and chainsaw killers, but few things keep the office up at night more than poorly designed streets.
