Ohio’s population remained stable, with an estimated gain of 5,363 residents, a gain within the state’s margin of error meaning it is an indicator of stability rather than demonstrable growth
The projected population numbers are sobering, but they are not destiny. There is much that we can do to bend the curve and maintain vibrant, prosperous communities. And that’s important because 60% of the state’s GDP is generated from counties that are expected to lose residents.
Four Ohio legacy cities saw population growth faster than state and national growth. Marion and Massillon grew by 0.6% each with 215 and 190 new residents respectively. Xenia and Middletown each grew at 0.5% with 133 and 262 residents.
