In @MariettaOH, Building Bridges to Careers pivoted from providing a makerspace for sharing skills & equipment to creating needed medical parts with 3D printing, assembling face shields, & sewing facemasks for healthcare workers. #SustainingCommunity
@CityofSandusky kicked off a citywide initiative, named #InThisTogetherSandusky, which takes place nightly. At a certain time, everyone steps outside to wave to their neighbors. #SustainingCommunity #GOPCThread
In @yellowsprings, an existing senior buddy system, where seniors living alone would pair up to call each other daily, was repurposed post COVID. Now, residents make “reassurance calls” to those seniors to prevent social isolation. #SustainingCommunity
Many have stepped-up throughout the pandemic, with neighbors looking after neighbors. Groups like Cultivate CDC and other #CommunityDevelopmentCorporations took the initiative and delivered care packages to neighbors to ensure they had essentials…
But fun distractions as well.
@Ohio_Wayne didn’t forget about man’s best friend. Wayne Co. Dog Shelter & residents in @CityOfWooster, opened a supply pantry for pet owners who have lost their jobs or are on assistance. Clients can visit once monthly. #SustainingCommunity
A Hamilton citizen-led group, @17strongHam, launched #SunnySideHamilton. This is a hashtag effort intended to share what we all need most right now: good news and community positivity #SustainingCommunity #GOPCThread
@AkronOhioMayor stated they will host a summer programs series to provide safe entertainment during COVID, including scavenger hunts, radio programs, & bird-watching to replace summer festivals, concerts, & other large gatherings. #SustainingCommunity
Libraries have always been important to #SustainingCommunity. @LakewoodLibrary began offering drive-thru pickup & curbside services at the Madison Branch. Materials are quarantined for 72 hours after they return for safety reasons. #GOPCThread
In @CityofSandusky, @CedarPointis giving lifetime amusement park passes to everyday heroes that have gone above & beyond to help others during the pandemic. Judges will select 10 winners. Who’s an everyday hero in your hometown? #SustainingCommunity
