Happy first day of early voting!
Happy first day of early voting! As of Tuesday, October 6, 2020, Ohio’s election polls are now open for early voting. As we discussed in early September, October is full of key dates for voting.
If you requested an absentee ballot, they will be mailed out today (October 6th). In many counties around Ohio, if you vote by mail ahead of the November 3rd voting date, it will be counted when received, but vote results won’t be released until after the polls close on election night. (More about counting mail-in ballots here.)
If you prefer to drop off your ballot, you can do that at your county’s Board of Elections. Some counties in Ohio are petitioning to allow more drop off boxes, however the decision on allowing more boxes is still getting resolved. We recommend you check with your Board of Elections to confirm the location of the drop off box.
If you want to start voting in-person at your county’s early voting location, they are now open, with more open dates the closer to the election. Here is a helpful calendar from the Ohio Secretary of State’s office on when your early voting location is open.
And if you are able to, please consider working as a poll worker (information on how to sign up, here). Many employers, including GOPC, are allowing employees to take a paid day off to work the polls.
Happy voting!
