Dear Friends,
Happy Holidays from everyone at the Greater Ohio Policy Center!
2017 has been an exciting year as GOPC continued to help Ohio’s communities stabilize and thrive. GOPC accomplished a lot this year, including:
- Lowered financial barriers to brownfield redevelopment by championing an amendment in the 2017 Operating Budget
- Increased funding for public transportation by successfully advocating for, with other partners, an additional $10M allocation in the 2017 ODOT budget and $15 million in a federal EPA settlement
- Provided Ohio’s smaller legacy cities with roadmaps to success through peer learningroundtables and original research. Our Revitalizing America’s Smaller Legacy Cities reportearned extensive in-state and national media coverage
- Armed leaders and practitioners with effective tools and strategies for creating competitive, attractive communities through our biannual Summit, transportation leadership academy, andstrategic assistance on financing water infrastructure to a multi-agency working group
Coming in 2018…
GOPC is excited to carry this momentum into 2018 as statewide elections heat up and local leaders continue to make beautiful, economically competitive communities where people want to work, live and play.
GOPC remains committed to being an advocate for sustainable economic prosperity in Ohio. We will continue to lead on state policies and local strategies that revitalize neighborhoods and cities, build effective transportation systems, improve aging sewer and water infrastructure, and increase opportunities for brownfield redevelopment. See our newly released 2018 Policy Platform to learn more.
If you believe in creating vibrant, sustainable cities and regions in Ohio, consider supporting us with a year-end contribution. We thank you for your generous support.
All the best for 2018,
Alison Goebel and the Greater Ohio Policy Center Team
