In March of 2021, local leaders introduced a pilot program to convert a vehicle travel lane into a two-lane bike lane on Clifton Avenue, a wide arterial, near the University of Cincinnati. The pilot was successful and with the help of the Cincinnati organizations Tri-State Trails and the Devou Good Foundation, as well as enthusiastic residents. The bike lane was granted permanence by the city in October of 2021.
This change has promoted safer and multimodal transportation in the city, later inspiring additional projects connecting the city’s bikeways.
