2022 Greater Ohio Summit: Biannual Gathering Brings Together Change-makers from Around Ohio
Last Thursday, Greater Ohio Policy Center hosted our biannual policy summit. The 2022 Greater Ohio Summit, Reflect and Refocus: Furthering Resilient Communities brought together change-makers from Ohio’s local communities, along with state-level experts and leaders of all walks of life, to share best practices, facilitate connections, provide practical research, and champion public policy change that helps practitioners and policymakers build strong, revitalized communities.
For those who attended the summit, as well as those who were unable to join us, we are pleased to be able to share with you the presentations from each of our eight breakout sessions, as well as our legislative briefing. All of the presentations are accessible via Google Docs by clicking on the box below.
During our legislative briefing, we also shared our newly released public policy platform, Reflect & Refocus: Furthering Resilient Communities. Resilient communities are able to withstand and recover quickly from difficult conditions. Ohio has hundreds of cities, villages, counties, and townships that have weathered economic recessions, natural disasters, and, other major challenges, emerging changed, but formidable.
The Greater Ohio Policy Center’s 2023-2024 public policy agenda calls for state policy changes that will strengthen communities’ resiliency through revitalization and sustainable development. This platform channels advocacy successes achieved in the past two General Assemblies, and introduces policy recommendations that are grounded in data and our deep expertise in legacy cities. This platform looks to state-specific funding sources, as well as the American Rescue Plan (ARPA) and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). The federal funds, in particular, are once-in-a-generation opportunities to make the investment needed to maintain strong legacy cities and rural areas.
You can read more about the policy platform by reviewing the Legislative Briefing Power Point presentation, and can access a copy of the full platform here on our website.
Thank you once again to everyone who helped to make the 2022 Greater Ohio Summit such a success, including all of our panelists, award winners, our Keynote Address from Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik, and all our sponsors, whose generosity enables The Summit to happen.
Finally, if you were able to join us, please take a moment and complete the post-summit survey.
Thank you again and we look forward to connecting with you again very soon!
