Pivots Mission-Driven Developers Can Make to Promote Stability During COVID-19
This week GOPC hosted the second webinar in our series “Keeping People in Their Homes” a series exploring strategies for promoting neighborhood stability in the time of COVID. Each webinar in the series addresses themes of neighborhood stability by focusing on strategies well-suited to a variety of actors, including philanthropy. mission-driven developers, local governments and non-profit community advocates.
This week’s webinar was entitled “Pivots Mission-Driven Developers Can Make to Promote Stability During COVID-19” and focused on adjustments developers are making to their work to be more responsive to community needs brought on by COVID. Topics presented included an effort in Columbus, OH to redirect homeownership funds to rehab and preservation efforts, Toledo’s work in closing the appraisal gap and eliminating blight, and a discussion of land installment contracts in Cincinnati and how they are a useful mechanism for preserving affordability, especially in the COVID era.
