Diverse coalitions drive #equitabledevelopment. @Transit4Indy a multisector coalition included nonprofits, national experts, regional mayors, anchor institutions, advocacy groups, relators, CDCs, minority orgs, & labor groups.  All encouraged support for mass transit #GOPCThread

.@Transit4Indy created a data-intensive slide deck that made the case for reliable public transit as a way 2 provide access 2 jobs, education, healthcare, and amenities.  The slides shared startling statistics about income, crime and segregation in #Indy. #GOPCThread

The #UnifiedCollective in @Springfield_OH is a coalition of organizations working together 2 improve the lives of communities of color & south side residents. @TheConscious_ @ClinArk_Inc #DreamVision @NAACP #YouthCommittee #PromiseZoneCrew #GOPCThread

#UnifiedCollective works to increase equity & inclusion in @Sprinfield_OH neighborhoods. Founder @DorianAHunter summed it up, “We are more organized as a collective instead of just working as individuals.” #GOPCThread

@LancasterPA leaders identified the need for a new non-profit to oversee & coordinate the city’s work 2 improve equity outcomes & reduce poverty. #LancasterEquityCDC was formed as an intermediary to fill this role.  #GOPCThread, @CAPLancaster, #LancasterEquityCDC

#LancasterEquityCDC’s flexible charter allows them to take risks & engage new in work 2 advance their mission.  They regularly convene housing & community development-related organizations fostering greater collaboration & idea sharing. #GOPCThread

Another great approach 2 #EquitableDevelopment is happening in @fitchburgmass with #ReImagineNorthofMain’s resident leadership training programs  #GOPCThread

#ReImagineNorthofMain’s #ResidentLeadershipInstitute trains diverse professionals on leadership skills & helps place them @fitchburgmass decision-making tables. #CommunityStewardsTrainingProgram trains youth in community organizing. #GOPCThread

.@GwinnettSToPP is a parent-organized group working against #SchooltoPrisionPipeline practices. The group built leadership development programming into its core functions for parents, accomplishing advocacy & capacity-building simultaneously. #GOPCThread

Private business can adopt equitable practices too.  #NehemiahManufacturingCo in @OhioCincinnati practices “second chance” hiring of hard-to-hire and formerly incarcerated people &  provides a social support team to help employees succeed @HartongDigital #GOCPThread

#NehemiahManufacturingCo formed a non-profit that eventually merged w/ @cincinnatiworks to expand the program throughout the region. In 2019, 80 companies participated & more than 400 workers were placed in employment. #GOPCThread
