Regional Governance Reform

GOPC works to advance regional economic growth by examining opportunities for governmental collaboration, cooperation, resource sharing, and other reforms to governance structures. This work links new local and regional governance structures with land use planning to make our regions more economically competitive.

In order to advance local governance reforms, this initiative blends research, legislative advocacy, public education, and technical assistance. We work with regional partners, such as in Northeast and Southwest Ohio, to knit together novel approaches to regional growth tailored to their areas; our innovative approachs provide the connective tissue to which regions from around the state can hitch their region-based needs and strategies. At the state level, we support legislation that gives local governments the tools they need to modernize procedures, maximize resources, attract jobs and businesses, and plan for sustainable, prosperous futures.
